Synopsis
In Italian with English subtitles
Please join us for another unique, outstanding film that could only come from Italy.
After the huge success of the first two films, “Ten Days Without Mom” (which we streamed in 2021 during the pandemic) and “Ten Days with Santa Claus,” the adventures of the Rovelli family return, this time departing for Puglia, where eldest daughter Camilla is moving to college with her boyfriend Antonio.
However, her father, Carlo (Fabio De Luigi from “Put Grandma in the Freezer”), isn’t ready to let go of his firstborn just yet, especially to entrust her to the care of that boy he doesn’t trust at all… So, upon arriving at the boy’s parent’s farmhouse, he misses no opportunity to make himself an unwelcome guest. Through thefts, lies and countless hilarious misunderstandings, the two families will realize that, despite their differences and competitiveness, they are now one big family.
What we are also experiencing is a change in Italian values. The word, “convivere,” captures the essence of today’s youth in Italy where living together is no longer the exception, but the rule, where people are delaying marriage in favor of co-habitation.
Director’s Notes:
This film marks a moment of growth for all of us who participated in its making, and for the actors, from the youngest to the oldest. The entire saga, of which “10 Days with the Family” is the third installment, is in some ways a social experiment: we grew up in reality alongside the fictional characters, the Rovelli family.
This new film addresses diverse, complex themes, such as separation from children who are growing up and starting their “adult” lives, a couple navigating changes and new moves. And much, much more. And for the first time, we also encounter a new family unit entering the picture: the Paradiso’s.
“10 Days with the Family” isn’t set in the city, but involves a journey for our Rovelli family, to a new region. And all of this, including the destination, Puglia, is an integral part of the story. Even from a strictly visual standpoint, this new chapter features different colors and lights than the city that characterizes the first chapter, and the snow and mountains of the second. The new element is the sea, present and partly a protagonist alongside the countryside. And the large house of the Paradiso family, a place that hosts the adventures and misadventures of our heroes, grappling with life’s changes and adjustments.
