Synopsis
In Pietrammare, a Sicilian town plagued by countless problems and rampant dishonesty, a new mayor is to be elected. The candidates are the former mayor, a mafia puppet hated by the community, and a mild-mannered professor who wants to finally bring honesty to the country. The latter candidate wins the election, and, with the help of his relatives, Salvatore and Valentino, begins to implement his program of legality. But the truth is that the town (and Italy) is corrupt and dishonest beyond redemption.
The new mayor’s program to “civilize” the citizens only exasperates them with fines charged for various infractions and taxes increased. Eventually, and this includes Salvo and Valentino, citizens hatch a plot to remove the new mayor from office….
