Climate disasters, wars, fanaticism, lies, greed—humanity seems to have hit rock bottom. Things have become so dire that in Paradise it’s decided to send a new Messiah to Earth. It’s mankind’s last chance; if humans still refuse to get their act together, the next punishment will be a universal flood—this time with no ark.

To deliver the Annunciation and breathe life into the womb of the new Madonna, Aristide (Valentino Picone), an angel convinced he knows what he’s doing, is dispatched. In truth, he understands neither the human soul nor himself. Through a mix of poor judgment and unforgivable carelessness, he ends up “impregnating” not the chosen woman, but Nicola Balistreri (Salvo Ficarra), a bigoted professor consumed by his own prejudices and by what people might say about him.

What follows is, to put it mildly, “quite a mess” for both Aristide and Nicola. Pulled along by events, the two forge an unlikely—one might even say familial—partnership as they attempt to get out of trouble without causing even greater chaos.

Ficarra and Picone, the most popular comic duo of Italy, are at it again. We have seen them before in that magnificent comedy “L’Ora Legale” and then again in supporting roles in “La Stranezza” and then again in “L’Abbaglio.” This time they take the lead roles again and the laughter becomes uncontrollable.

Santocielo also stars Barbara Ronchi (Rapito) who we have also seen in past IFS films “Io Sono Babbo Natale” and “Everything is Going to Be Alright.”

Francesco Amato is at his best in directing the out-of-control comedic duo. Some of his past work includes “Let Yourself Go,” now on Amazon Prime, “18 Presents” and the detective series “Imma Tataranni.”
